Clearing a Pendulum?

Is it necessary to clear (clean) a new pendulum or one I have been using myself? I've read so many different methods, I am completely confused. Is there a quick (not ceremonious) way to do this? help!!!

Hi,
I read that a pendulum needs to be cleansed etc, and I wondered how that was to be done. So far I have used pendulums and got accurate answers at times, though not always. I wondered if that had to do with cleaning the pendulum.
I found my answer on this page in a comment left by Nigel. It resonated with me.

After all as Nigel points out- a pendulum is only a tool and if you know how to use it you do not necessarily have to have a particular pendulum or a cleansed one. I would also go further to add that any pendulum can work for you, even if you make one on the spot, it can even be a piece of jewellery like a pretty pendent you wear on a chain around your neck, or a key on a chain if nothing else is available. The only cleansing you would need to do is that of your own energies and intentions. Set your intention on getting answers and using them for the highest good of all parties concerned.
And if you believe in the law of attraction, then the pendulum you have in your hand will be completely correct for you in terms of your own energy. The clearer you are, the clearer are the tools that you work with!

I used to use sea salt for a good 24 hour clearing. Now I use citrine clusters inside a pyramid. Sea salt is okay for some pendulums but not for others because it is corrosive. Hope this helps.

Clearing and cleaning pendulums

The simple answer to this is that if you believe this is necessary, then it becomes necessary.
Personally, the only cleaning I've ever done of any pendulum is clean off marks of food and drink or blow the dust off.
The pendulum is a tool and nothing more. It works because you hold it. It moves because your arm and wrist make very small movements.
With practice you can make a pendulum move without even touching it.
Therefore, as you are in control of the pendulum, you can decide whether or not you want to clear it.
To make a ritual out of it is a way of denying your own abilities. It is like saying 'the power of the pendulum lies outside of me, therefore I am not as strong and powerful as the thing which controls the pendulum.'
I have found that the longer people have been dowsing, the less attention they pay to the tool, because they realize that the tool is less important than themselves.
Therefore, do whatever you feel is necessary and be aware that it will change over time.
OR....Avoid all the problems about it altogether and learn to dowse without any tools; deviceless dowsing! (You know, things like body swaying, finger rubbing and the like.)
