It is my understanding that we are not actually programming our pendulums or rods but our subconscious mind. I would like to hear you take on this.

I'm not sure how it works. However, I don't think it is our autonomic nervous system. I have been channeling with my spirit guide, guardian angel, arch angel Rafael, and an ascended master named Job. They communicate with me through dowsing. I use a pendulum and an alphabet chart. Occasionally a dark entity tries to come through, but I end the session and say a prayer to send it back to the realm it came from. This always works for me. I receive messages of love, light,and truth from GOD, and believe this is the best way to communicate with the white light beings.

Absolutely correct! The tool is just that; a tool. It shows what the body is responding to. It acts like a gauge or dial in a sense.
Maggie and I dowse without tools. The only possible programming we could do would be with our bodies and minds.
By emphasizing the tool, such procedures take the focus away from the body and the mind which are the only real tools you have. That's why we emphasize not using tools when we teach dowsing.
