How I saved myself a trip to the hardware store

One day I decided I wanted to hang a very large and heavy mirror on the wall. For over a year, I had been propping it on the chest of drawers, because I thought it was too heavy for my walls. I didn't know a lot about hanging very heavy objects, so I thought I would probably have to go to the hardware store and ask one of the guys how to do it and what I would need and then I would have to buy what was necessary to do the job right.
Speculative visions of molybolts and power drills danced in my head. Oh my!
I had recently returned from Maggie and Nigel's intermediate dowsing workshop, so then of course, I heard my little voice say, "DOWSE IT!" So, I decided to dowse my way through the hanging process instead. I knew at least, that it would probably be best to find a stud on the wall, and I knew that carpenters often use a "stud-finder," which is a device you get at the hardware store, or you can also knock on the wall to find the stud, IF you trust that process.
Not being a carpenter kind of gal, and not wanting to invest in a stud-finder (at least not that kind) I thought I would use my pendulum to find the stud instead, so I knocked at several places on the wall, and checked with my pendulum and found the stud.
Next, I needed to find a hanger that would support my mirror. I went to my junk drawer in the kitchen and found some picture hangers. The biggest one is not necessarily the right one, so I dowsed for one that would hold my mirror.
I nailed it to the appropriate spot and then used my pendulum to double check if my hanger at that spot on the wall would support the weight of my mirror for as long as I wanted it there. When I got a yes, I rephrased my question, got another yes, and proceeded to hang my mirror with a little apprehension, but it has been a week, and it is still in place.
As for the other kind of stud-finder, ask your own pendulum.
