How to make your dowsing rod better

I am in Brazil and my boyfriend has been using his simple rods made of copper and hasn't had too much luck with them.
A friend of his, who is a geologist, mentioned how he made his rods more powerful by using 8 different minerals in the middle of the rods to "neutralize the energy field while searching for buried gold" This "friend" of his refuses to give away his "secret minerals" or how to do this...
According to what you know...does this make any difference in searching for buried items?
Also, he uses rods that are slightly longer on the "positive" hand...(if you are right handed, its is a bit longer for that side, example).....do you agree with this or is this an error?

Thanks for the info,
Kristen

Dowsing rods NEW
by: Nigel

Thanks for this. I think the main thing to remember is that any tool you use in dowsing is just that: a tool and nothing more.
How you view or use the tool is up to you. But, without any dowsing skill, it doesn't matter what you use.
So, in answer to your question, it only really matters about the construction of the dowsing rod if you think it matters. If you have a very expensive rod, then the chances are you are going to believe that it will work better and that will help you get better results.
Having one rod longer than the other is just the same.
My own rods are solid steel and very plain. I use one of them to stick in the ground to mark anything I'm interested in. I don't take much care of them and often stick them down my boots if I want to use my hands for writing etc. In other words, the rods are just tools for me, but I get good results because I practice a lot. I don't always have to use them, as I can also 'sense' things; but that's because (again) I practice a lot.
Having expensive rods which look wonderful and glittery might make them look good in your hands, but they won't make you a good dowser overnight.
My advice? Find rods which you really like the look and feel of and use them a lot, as often as you can on as many different dowsing tasks as you can, and you'll be fine!
