Well, I'm not sure what you mean by this, but I am assuming that you mean with how it works???
If so, that is definitely 'No'.
For example, by looking at a map, you can tell about the size of a place, the number of people there, even make guesses about the amount of traffic, the size and age of buildings in some cases, whether it is hilly or not and so on. And that's just because we are taught about certain marks on paper.
To an Amazon Indian, perhaps, it would seem like magic.
Map dowsing just allows us, in some way yet to be fully explained, to connect with the place and give us even more detail, usually about one specific thing: a person or water or oil there, or if an object is there or not. But there are no spirits associated with this, at least not in the way I work!
