Dowsing information
by: Nigel

I'd certainly suggest that you read Christopher Bird's 'The Divining Hand' (Whitford Press, 1993) if you are after ideas about dowsing. It is the most comprehensive modern survey of dowsing available. He covers various aspects of dowsing, including the history and various applications as well as some theories.
If you're writing a paper, that's where you need to start.

I haven't dowsed before... I'm actually just gaining insight on the topic for my University's paper.
Any and all important steps and answers to how dowsing works is helpful.

Depth of water dowsing
by: Nigel

I'm not sure anyone's found a limit as such. For example, I know of a very good water dowser who successfully dowsed a well at over 1,000 feet.
So, presumably you can go deeper than that.
Of course, the trick is then to have very accurate drillers prove it, because even a slight divergence from the correct line will miss the dowsed water vein.
In the case of the 1,000 foot well, it came in as predicted.
How far down have you dowsed?
